Intra-oral photos and X-Rays are used to validate that the correct scans are received and to establish overall digital setup quality. This step is critical in the KLOwen customized work and will eventually be a requirement at submission.
Some practices may prefer to provide screenshots of the mouth that come with the scan rather than intra-oral and extra-oral photos, for convenience. The first reason for these photos is to confirm that the photos match the scans, affirming that the correct scans are being used for the digital setup. The scan screenshots do not validate the scan, because they are not from a separate source.
The facial smile photo and cephalometric image are used to establish global positioning in 3D space, representing the patient’s natural head position, ideal bracket height, and overall smile design. This step is critical in the KLOwen customized workflow to minimize rebonds and reduce unnecessary wire bends, ensuring more precise and efficient treatment outcomes.
The panoramic X-Ray helps to determine tooth root direction and to identify unerupted teeth. CBCT scans are an immense contribution to that and overall setup quality.
, it leaves a risk of proceeding with wrong scans and prevents the best possible digital setup quality. While KLOwen is currently willing to accept some cases without intra-oral photos and X-Rays, they will be required during submission at a future date.
